A rule is a short sentence: which mood, which platforms, which words. Matches from a scan arrive together in one email. You decide how narrow the rule is, so you decide how much mail you get.

What can trigger a notification?
A rule matches on sentiment, platform, tracking and keywords, for example a negative post on X that mentions “refund”. After each scan, the new posts are checked against your active rules, and the matches for each rule arrive together in one email.
Can alerts go outside Mentionwatch?
Alerts are sent by email to the address you set on each rule, so they can go to your own inbox or a shared team address. Email is the only channel today; there are no Slack, Discord or webhook alerts.
Can I avoid noisy alerts?
Yes. Narrow a rule to negative posts, one platform or a few specific words instead of every mention, and pause a rule with its switch when you do not need it.
Are notifications useful for small teams?
They are built for small teams and founders who need quick awareness without keeping a social monitoring dashboard open all day.
